Early pregnancy care
Dr Horsley's approach
Dr Erin Horsley is pleased to be able to provide thorough care to you during these exciting
and sometimes challenging months.
At your first appointment after you have confirmed your pregnancy on a home pregnancy
test or missed your period while trying to conceive, we will take a detailed history and plan
initial investigations. We will provide written information on all the things you need to know
about the first trimester. A dating and pregnancy location scan will be arranged for
approximately 7 weeks gestation and initial routine blood tests are completed. We will
ensure you’re taking the correct vitamin supplements or other medications for your unique
needs. It’s best if you book a long appointment for your initial pregnancy appointment.
At your second appointment between 8-9 weeks we will review your physical and emotional
health, as well as arrange first trimester screening tests and the early anatomy USS. We
can counsel you on options for ongoing pregnancy care: shared care with our GP’s, public
and private delivery options.
Dr Erin Horsley has interest and experience in providing care for those having challenges in
their first trimester including bleeding or miscarriage in early pregnancy, morning sickness or
hyperemesis gravidarum, or mental health concerns.
